Q: Which Eucerin product is best to use for chronic dry skin itch?
A: Eucerin Itch-Relief Moisturizing Spray is a unique, new product that immediately relieves dry skin itch. Since it’s a spray, it’s easy to apply and there’s no need to rub irritated skin. Q: I think I may be sensitive to alcohol or lanolin. Many Eucerin products contain lanolin alcohol– what is it?
A: The lanolin alcohol used in Eucerin is a highly refined emollient that has been proven to effectively protect and moisturize the skin. It is not related to other alcohols that are drying and can irritate the skin. The Eucerin brand has been recognized by dermatologists and pediatricians for its excellent safety and effectiveness for more than 50 years. Many individuals who are sensitive to the lanolin found in other products, can safely use Eucerin without a reaction since the lanolin in Eucerin must pass high purity and quality standards. However, if a reaction occurs, please discontinue use immediately.

Q: Can Eucerin Original Creme or Lotion be used on the face?
A: Yes. Eucerin Original Creme and Lotion are non-sensitizing, non-comedogenic and non-acnegenic, and may be used safely on facial skin. However, since these products are designed primarily for use on the hands and body, they are heavier than most of today’s facial moisturizers. Also, they do not contain a sunscreen.

Q: What does “AHA” mean? What does it do to the skin? Is it safe for sensitive skin?
A: "AHA" stands for Alpha Hydroxy Acid, a class of skincare ingredient that helps exfoliate the top layer of skin, to reveal the fresh new skin beneath. Although some AHA preparations are irritating– especially for sensitive skin– the AHA ingredients in Eucerin Plus Intensive Repair Lotion and Creme are less acidic and therefore less irritating than other AHAs. Eucerin Plus Intensive Repair products have been proven safe for use even on cracked or sensitive skin. Q: What is the difference between "fragrance-free" and "unscented?"
A: Most dermatologists recommend that you choose "fragrance-free" products, such as Eucerin and Aquaphor, rather than "unscented" if you have sensitive skin. Why? Because fragrances are the leading irritating ingredient for sensitive skin, and are hidden in many products advertised as appropriate for sensitive skin. A product labeled "unscented" in fact may contain a very subtle fragrance known as a "masking scent," used to cover up medicinal or unpleasant odors; "fragrance-free," on the other hand, means the product contains absolutely no fragrance ingredients.

Q: When should I use Aquaphor instead of Eucerin?
A: As a general rule, Aquaphor Healing Ointment is the best choice when skin is healing– from surgery, a procedure, radiation or a burn– or needs lubrication to prevent chafing. Aquaphor has been proven to reduce healing time and recommended by dermatologists for irritated skin.
For dry skin that needs intensive moisturizing, a doctor will often suggest a Eucerin moisturizer instead. Eucerin is highly effective, but is more suitable for use under makeup and clothing, as it is absorbed into the skin more quickly than Aquaphor.

Q: What is the shelf life for Eucerin products? Can I use them after their expiration date has passed?
A: Shelf life varies by product, but most are designed to be safe for use for two years. Although they will not be harmful after the expiration date, they may begin to deteriorate and active ingredients may become less effective. For that reason, it is recommended that you replace any unused product after the expiration date has passed and purchase a replacement bottle.

A: AHA stands for alpha hydroxy acid, which can– not surprisingly– have a slight, somewhat sharp, acidic smell. Because Eucerin products are completely fragrance-free, and contain no "masking scent," you may notice such a subtle odor in Eucerin Plus Intensive Repair moisturizers or in Eucerin Renewal Alpha Hydroxy Lotion. However, the AHA formulation in these products has been proven to be safe for sensitive skin, and is at the recommended low level for maximum effectiveness without irritation.
