Today we know:
there’s no such thing as a “healthy tan.”

Still not convinced? Consider these statistics:
One in five
Americans will develop skin cancer at some point in life.
At least 90% of these cancers result from long-term exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun.
By age 18, most people have received 50% to 80% of their lifetime sun exposure.
Over a million new cases of skin cancer are diagnosed each year in the United States.

If you or your children are sun worshippers, you need to realize that the sun is as much to be respected– even feared– as loved. Luckily, now even if you have sensitive skin, you can protect yourself every single day, to prevent further damage– with Eucerin Daily Sun Defense SPF 15, specially developed for daily use on sensitive skin, including skin that’s easily irritated by the sun.

We all enjoy spending time outdoors in the warm sunshine, at the beach or in the backyard, walking, playing ball, boating, swimming– even skiing and snowboarding when it’s cold. But every moment you spend under the sun adds up, with a permanent record kept in your skin. The sun causes photoaging– wrinkles, blotching, drying and leathering of the skin, which can make you look prematurely old.

And it’s not only nice sunny days that harm your skin! Did you know that even on cloudy, hazy days, up to 80% of the sun’s radiation reaches your skin?

No one wants to look older than they are, or run the risk of developing skin cancer. So start now to practice these “safe sun” tips every day for both you and your children. And use Eucerin Facial Moisturizers (providing either SPF 15 or SPF 30 protection) . . . or our anti-aging Lotion, Eucerin Q10 Anti-Wrinkle Sensitive Skin Lotion SPF 15 . . . and Eucerin Daily Sun Defense SPF 15 every day, rain or shine, summer, winter, spring or fall– to prevent photoaging and other UV-induced damage to your beautiful skin.

“Safe Sun” Practices

1. Be especially careful if you fall into any of the groups below:
• You’re fair-skinned, with blonde, red or light brown hair and blue, green or gray eyes
• Your skin is freckled
• You burn before you tan
• You spend a lot of time outdoors, for work or play
• You are a skin cancer survivor

2. Be especially protective of children’s skin–
• Because they have so many years of sun exposure ahead of them
• Because their skin is especially tender
• Because they spend so much time outside

3. Limit time in the sun
• Avoid the sun between 10 and 4
• Keep your eye on your watch– don’t stay in the sun too long without a break in the shade

4. Use a sunscreen of SPF 15 or higher, with both UVA and UVB protection, WHENEVER you spend time outdoors–
• playing sports
• running or walking
• picnicking
• gardening
• even shopping or waiting for a bus!

5. Use enough sunscreen to adequately protect– make sure you’re thoroughly covered.

6. Remember to cover forgotten areas– ears, lips, around eyes, neck, hands, feet– even scalp if hair is thinning!

7. Reapply every 2 hours, minimum. Replace if sunscreen is removed by toweling, sweating or swimming.

8. For extra protection, cover up– with long-sleeved shirts and long pants, hats and sunglasses that protect your eyes from UV rays.
